Pete Forsberg provided many an excited evening in the Cowboy Papist family; no one could move a puck through the crown like Foppa, Peter the Great. Injuries really have limited his potential for even more championships, but he was one hard working and dynamic player. Our Avalanche haven’t been the same since he left us.
His speed, his reach, his puck handling and his innate ability to find the net are potentially unmatched. What many tend to forget is defensemen soon learned the only way to slow Foppa was to mug him all the time. And he still could handle a puck through a crowd and score. Sweden gave us all a tremendous gift, and Pete was a fine and inspiring example for young hockey players.
