Intolerant Secularism: Abuse of ‘Non-Discrimination’

From Rome Reports comes a great quote from Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, currently serving as the Vatican Secretary of State when he dropped something of a hammer on Europe’s economic issues, caused by the presence of “intolerant secularism.”  Secularists in Europe “often abuse the principle of non-discrimination to build a dictatorship of relativism that clashes with Christian values.”

“It’s against the marriage between a man and a woman, against the defense of life from conception to natural death.”  As Rome Reports notes, the “cardinal called on the bishops and others  to address these problems, by first trusting in God.  And also by being realistic, undoing any prejudice and by getting ready to spread the message of the New Evangelization.”

What an honest and direct statement to make; abusing the principle of non-discrimination to build a dictatorship of relativism that clashes with Christian values!  Yes, he’s urging our bishop’s to take the lead in slowing this rush to relativism as it rolls along of its own weight. Remember this Advent to pray for the bishops of our Church, that they may lead with the justice of our doctrine and fortitude in faith in addition to their exercise of the virtues of prudence and temperance.
